Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how EngCal Online (“EngCal,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information when you visit engcal.online, use our engineering calculators, read our content, or contact us. It also explains the choices available to you.
Information you provide
EngCal does not require an account to use its calculators. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, name, message, attachments, and any technical details you provide. Please do not send confidential, sensitive, or safety-critical information.
Calculator inputs
The calculators on the static EngCal website generally perform calculations in your browser. EngCal does not intentionally transmit or store the numerical values you enter into those calculators. Standard technical information about your visit may still be processed by our analytics, hosting, security, and advertising providers as described below.
Information collected automatically
When you visit EngCal, our hosting provider and third-party services may automatically process technical and usage information. This can include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, approximate location derived from the IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, dates and times of visits, interactions with the site, and diagnostic or security information.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use EngCal, measure page performance, and improve our calculators and content. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers and may process the technical and usage information described above. Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy practices.
You can learn more at Google's Privacy Policy and How Google safeguards Analytics data. You may also use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising and Google AdSense
EngCal may use Google AdSense and other approved advertising services to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to EngCal or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve personalized ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.
You can manage or opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also learn about additional industry opt-out choices at YourAdChoices. Where required, EngCal will present a consent or privacy message that provides additional choices before or while advertising technologies are used.
If we enable advertising vendors other than Google, those vendors may also use cookies or similar technologies. Information about applicable vendors and available choices may be provided through our consent interface or the vendors' own privacy notices.
Cookies and consent choices
Cookies are small files or identifiers stored by your browser. They can support analytics, security, site functionality, ad measurement, and ad personalization. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect certain site or advertising features.
For visitors in regions where consent is required, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use or plan to use a Google-certified consent management platform. You can use the privacy message shown on the site to accept, reject, or manage available choices.
How we use information
We use information for purposes that include:
- operating, securing, and troubleshooting the website;
- providing and improving calculators, guides, and navigation;
- measuring traffic, engagement, and technical performance;
- responding to questions, corrections, and calculator requests;
- displaying, measuring, and managing advertising where enabled; and
- complying with legal obligations and protecting users, EngCal, and others.
How information is shared
We do not disclose information simply for others to use for unrelated purposes. Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate the website, such as website hosting, analytics, security, communications, consent management, and advertising providers. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, investigate abuse, protect safety or rights, or in connection with a reorganization or transfer of the website.
Data retention
We retain email correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Analytics, hosting, security, consent, and advertising providers retain information according to their settings and policies. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is processed.
International processing
EngCal is available internationally. Our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Privacy protections and legal requirements can differ between jurisdictions. Providers such as Google use their own safeguards for international data processing.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. You may also have the right to opt out of certain targeted advertising or data sharing. You can use available browser, advertising, and consent controls, or contact us to make a privacy request. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where permitted or required by law.
Children's privacy
EngCal is a general engineering reference website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect the website and information under our control. No Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
